Kristi Lafrenz was born May 23, 1974 with tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia. He has had 5 procedures on her heart at both the University of Minnesota and Mayo Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. She has undergone open-heart surgeries, a valve repair and replacements, as well as radiofrequency ablation.
Kristi graduated from high school in 1992 and attended 2 years of vocational college, graduating with a medical secretary degree. In 1994 she got married and delivered a healthy baby boy in 2001. Kristi works full time and is the president of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization/support group called Kristi’s Heart Hugs. Her mission is to provide personal communication, encouragement and assistance for children with CHDs and their families. Kristi’s husband runs Bismarck Rentall in Bismarck and her son Hunter is now in 8th grade and enjoys soccer and races motorcross.
