Job Title: Podcast Intern — Assistant Producer
Location: Work from your home on your own computer, no special equipment needed
Key Responsibilities:
- generating and researching ideas for programs, developing content, writing material for scripts, bulletins, and links;
- sourcing potential contributors (to the newsletter or show) and guests;
- send out pre-production briefings to guests
- managing the logistics of getting people, resources, and equipment together to the right place at the right time;
- presenting a program or managing presenters for both pre-recorded and recorded output;
- checking that copyrights are cleared and understanding media law;
- converting text, graphics, video and audio files into other formats if needed;
- contributing to and making use of an archive of audio resources which can be re-used;
- responding to audience feedback, referring on to other departments as necessary;
- producing and making use of user-generated content;
- using technology for production purposes;
Reports to: the Podcast Producer
Length of Appointment: One season (15 weeks)
Time Commitment: 10-20 hours per week with a twice weekly one-hour staff meeting
Qualifications: Some college would be helpful, especially in the field of journalism, broadcasting or communications but is not a necessity. A willingness to learn and try new things is important. The volunteer must be able to work well with a team, be comfortable with problem-solving, easy to communicate with and dependable.
